Therefore, scratching doesn’t change its cooking properties, neither does it affect the taste of the food.
However, the story is different when it comes to ceramic titanium cookware. The safety of this type of cookware depends on the material used in the coating to give it the non-stick property. Some manufacturers use patented, non-stick titanium finish that’s resistant to scratching. The coating doesn’t peel even when metal utensils are used on it, and even if it peels off, the inert titanium doesn’t have any toxic effect on the human body.
When it comes to titanium infused ceramic coating, the metals used in making the base don’t seep into the food as the surface is non-porous. However, the surface layer can get scratched, which affects the performance of the cookware. Therefore, with this type of titanium cookware, you can keep off the metallic utensils.
Generally, cookware coated with titanium and the titanium-infused ceramic coating is both considered non-reactive and safe for cooking. Just ensure you keep off anything that can scratch the surface, though the top layer of the cookware is normally very hard, and so, isn’t easily scratched.
